Why Massages during Pregnancy are so amazing
During your pregnancy, your body is going through so many chances in a pretty short time. This can lead to some uncomfortable feelings, tightness and tensions. A bespoke massage can help ease your discomfort and make you feel more relaxed getting ready for birth.
The Benefits of Prenatal Massage
Research shows prenatal massage can help reduce anxiety, decrease symptoms of depression, relieve muscle aches and joint pains, and improve labor outcomes and newborn health. Prenatal massage addresses different needs through varying techniques.
Studies done in the past 10 years have shown that hormone levels associated with relaxation and stress are significantly altered when massage therapy is introduced to women’s prenatal care. This leads to mood regulation and improved cardiovascular health.
In women who received bi-weekly massages for only five weeks, hormones such as norepinephrine and cortisol (hormones associated with stress) were reduced, and dopamine and serotonin levels were increased (low levels of these hormones are associated with depression).
These changes in hormone levels also led to fewer complications during birth and fewer instances of newborn complications, such as low birth weight. The evidence strongly suggests there are maternal and newborn health benefits when therapeutic massage is incorporated into regular prenatal care. (source americanpregnancy.org)

Precautions for prenatal massage?
As with any non medical approach to pregnancy wellness, women should discuss massage with their prenatal care provider. If you are having a high risk pregnancy, or acute pain please get a referral to a physiotherapist. The service I provide is not a medical treatment.
How we work together
We start from the foundations and getting to know you and your needs with an online pre-screen and consultation form. This means there is more time for massage in your first appointment.
Your massage is completely bespoke to what you feel you need right now. Whether its a completely full body massage, or you are really feeling particular aches and pains that need some help its a complete tailored experience. No routine to ensure you feel truly amazing at the end.
At the end of your session we will go through some wonderful home care strategies to help make the most of your massage and to help take control of those aches and pains in pregnancy.
Your home care is then emailed to you (as if you are like me at the end of a massage your attention span is limited!).
Please do get in touch if you have any further questions. By submitting your details you agree that we can use those to contact you regarding the course. We will not pass on your details to any third parties.
